Batteries are not located in the engine compartment on Volvo XC90s. A different (but simple) approach can be used to jump the SUV without having to open the read battery compartment (located by the spare tire). It amazes me, that ALL auto makers continually fail at simple designs that have been perfected for decades. Steering wheels, windshields, seatbelts, door handles, accelerator or brake pedals, hood latches. It is bewildering how, in this case, Volvo (and others) have perfected the hood latch but a defective design is put on this vehicle. I really do not get it. Thanks for the video though!

I have a Sta-rite 333 that starts up no problem but will only heat to 95° despite setting the unit at 101°. I tried manually turning the temperature up to 104°, still wouldn’t go past 95°. I’m frustrated as I just bought a new $3,000 pump. I had the same repairman take a look and he said there was rodent damage and the entire heater needed to be replaced. I can’t help but think it must be fixable, it turns on and heats to a certain extent! Any advice would be greatly appreciated

Thank you! Sharing with you the other steps I added as I too had to mess with bonnet mechanism to pop the hood and would get angry. I lubed the mechanism arm, hook & clasp. Open and closed a few times after application and massaged in lube on clasp & hook. For now I don't need to push in clasp. Thank you!

Thank you very much. It did take some work to pry off the little tailgate handle panel. Both before and during my initial taps to punch through the rusty pin, I was spraying everything with WD-40. I suddenly realized that the latch and its spring mechanism were functioning again, returning to the lock position on its own. I decided to leave well enough alone since I will be removing the exterior handle again in the near future to mount a rear view camera into it. I reinstalled everything and sprayed the pin with white grease.

Good video - I had the same issue with the loose wire on the new assembly causing a tight fit. Also my connecter on the new assembly had trouble fitting in to the plug. This was solved by insuring the red locking slide was fully pulled up - I actually heard a little click when it fully opened. The other new assembly for the passenger side also had this issue. I then had no trouble with the install. Last point is that I am a bit miffed at myself that I did not do this sooner. I purchased the new headlight assembly for about $200 - including all bulbs. As a side note - my Volvo dealer wanted $500 installed. Considering I was considering paying $100 to have a body shop try to clean the lens which I have been told doesn't work that well - this was a great deal and the best way to solve the problem.

I had to change the 15A fuse for cigarette lighter / 12v sockets, located under the steering wheel. The cover needed a little downwards persuasion at 2:35, I used a small pry bar. It makes sense to check for spare fuses on the side panel (1:15), and also there's a fuse puller which is handy. This fuse is a mini version of the standard European auto fuse that I am familiar with on my 1991 SAAB.

I have the newly upgraded 28W panel set from Big Blue. I use mine mostly for backpacking. I recently did a trip to Yellowstone where I spent 11 days in the backcountry, shooting video on my phone (1-2 hours per day), and charging my apple watch, my headlamp, my air matress pump, and my Zoleo GPS Comms. My battery bank is the Anker 20k. I generally can charge my phone from 50% to 80% in an hour from the battery via passthrough. During my trip we covered on average 10 miles a day. I hung the solar panel off the back of my bag, which didn't do much. When we arrived at camp I would find the biggest opening nearby and set it up for 2-3 hours before adjusting it again. I was able to finish my trip with ~50% battery life left. This was a daily charge on the phone and watch. Every 2-3 days I would top off my Zoleo and my headlamp. My air pump only had to be topped off once on day 6. I also used the air pump as a fire stoker. If you want to record, or spend 4k mah per day, this panel can semi-keep up. We did have 1 cloudy day, and I was still able to add ~8% to my bank. On a clear, hot, sunny day I can add as much as 30% to the battery pack. I used to carry to Anker 10k, but found that there wasn't enough overhead for charging with my older 1/2 the size panel. Combined they weigh 24 oz... but I have never worried about power since then. If I took a 0 day while out there I think I could charge the 20k battery bank by 40-50% in a day, maybe more. High elevations make for great charging! Great video. May i suggest that you invest in the mini-USB voltage meter? It would give you instant stats.
